Somerset is a part of the country more associated with cider than ales, but as an ale lover my recent trip to that part of the country meant hunting out a couple of nice ales from local brewers. Butcombe is one of the more well established ‘modern’ breweries having been around since 1978,
I didn’t visit any breweries – I didn’t really have time, but these beers are quite widely available around the county and are worth looking out for if you like ale and are in Somerset.
Golden Colour, light refreshing citrus notes, a nice bitter note and some grainy malty undertones. Hints of redbush tea and light toffee finish off with a very accomplished golden summer ale indeed.
