A really interesting Spanish wine

Another wine from that interesting meeting with Spanish importer Ben Henshaw of Indigo Wines is this wine from Navarra. For those unaware of the wines of Navarra the region is immediately north east of Rioja and the winery responsible for this wine Vinicola Corellana is virtually on the border. So the land is pretty good, Navarra has slightly more relaxed rules than Rioja too but that isn’t always a good thing.

This wine is a varietal Graciano, one of the less common Riojan varieties but a high quality one (often called an improver). Succulent cherry and raspberry fruit, with soft texture, some light spicey notes, textural and long. I really liked this a lot, and as another sub £10 bottle it’s one that I’ll be drinking more of.
